Slumberdoll

Since I’m still on a sartorial high, I’m gonna cut the chase and move on straight to story-telling! This is what I wore that day; Of course I need to be presentable! Me and my bebe gurl Nadine had a hard time the night before exchanging pegs and sreenshots thru Viber on what to wear. Come on! I’m pretty sure you girlfriends do that too! Finally, we decided on a blazer to be the main staple of our get up which is just what the event requires. A piece of clothing that will not only make you smarter looking in an instant but most importantly, decent enough not to look like an obvious fanatic on a prowl. I decided to pair mine with shorts and Nadz went on with a skirt. We also wanted to be comfortable since its going to be a long travel from my place to the venue and we didn’t want to grab attention inside the MRT. If you haven’t noticed already, I’m all about black and floral. That’s the most prominent scene inside my wardrobe. So there, armed with stilettos and books inside our bags, off we go to MOA with gushing smiles plastered on our faces.

I couldn’t contain my happiness when I finally met one of my girl crush bloggers Tricia Gosingtian last Sunday. I learned my lesson the last time and made sure that I attend the last leg of her book signing for her 150 Style Essentials for Every Girl book. (Congratulations!) She didn’t fall short of my expectation, she made my heart melt. Tricia Will Go Places was the very first fashion blog that I randomly came across with at one time while violating the internet browsing rules in the office 3 years ago. (Hi Boss, sorry ‘bout that :’) I instantly fell in love with her polished style and it was when I began following blogs and found out about the other bloggers too. It was through them that I learned not to be scared for putting extra effort into looking pretty and becoming. Her book is a perfect reference especially for people like me who finds great joy in experimenting with fashion. It may not make sense and silly for some but bloggers had transformed me into a better version of myself these past few years. I have always love dressing up even before but it was them who paved the way for me to express my style with confidence. At some point it holds me back whenever I get the “looks” if I’m being bold with my fashion but it turned out that I actually inspire other girls too. It’s heartwarming to get messages once in a while saying they look up to me for inspiration and that’s also the reason why I started to blog. While juggling the demands of my work and personal life, I felt the need to show by example that a hectic schedule is not an excuse and a hindrance to look good. Take time for yourself. Remember that looking good and feeling good go hand in hand. I’m no expert but I aim to spread the love for fashion like other bloggers do in my own little way.

Love Hiatus

Okay, so I was made aware that there are real people reading my blog aside from my Mom. LOL! Few have noticed that it’s been a couple of weeks and a half or maybe more since the last time I blogged. To be honest, around the latter part of January, I did start to get a bit too excited about what my Valentines entry and outfit would look like. I even bought a pretty pink dress ahead of time (I’m not a red person so pink will do) and was glad that my photographer wannabee brother JR will be in Manila for an overnight stay. I was definitely ready for some lovin’! Or so I thought. For someone who’s in a relationship for almost a decade, I found myself at loss for words about this overrated topic called LOVE. According to Facebook, Love is complicated. (ay, status pala yun). Anyway, some say it's what makes a person complete while some say it'll just make you wait, invest, expect and then get hurt in return. Ehem, I don’t really want to go into details about my love life and I don’t want to be that obvious and sound bitter than I already am. Nah, there were sad times but definitely a handful of good ones too. Ching and I wouldn't last this long if I’m not crazy in love with him right? Right? Ahahaha.

I do think this outfit was perfect for Valentine's though. Pretty and dainty with a hint of flirty. Not the predictable red ones that screams “OA”. If only we went out for a date on Valentine’s Day, I would have worn this. But since we didn't (tssss), I wore this at the office instead during our Valentine’s Jam event where I sang some cheesy love songs. I wish I could post the video but I’d rather not. Let’s just say that our choir director back at home once made me believe that I could sing but that was just because no one was brave enough to do the solo part. Bummer.

Neon Sign

I noticed that aside from the vaguely growing trend of wearing razzle-dazzle sports paraphernalia in the gym, neon is rarely seen in day to day fashion. Unless, you’re working for the MMDA perhaps? Just kidding! Like most of us, I’m also hesitant of sporting anything neon and I can’t remember owning a single one. Well, a breezy way of conquering this dilemma is to discreetly manage adding simple bright details on a plain outfit like what I did on this get up. Although this matching neon yellow-green choker and earring set is not actually mine (still won’t invest on it, hehe), luck was on my side when I saw these on my sister's green infested wardrobe. She owns a lot of green by the way, and no, she’s not an eco slash nature environmentalist of any sort. Anyway, the lesson for people like my sister is... A little touch of something-something can actually be more flattering than over-doing it. Agree? However, if you’re a brave soul like blogger extraordinaire Laureen Uy, then there’s no argument here. Go work it girl!

Now for starters, do you know the best venue to flaunt your neons this year? Hear ye, cray hipsters! Gather up at the second year of Negros Love Dance 2014! THE NEONSHOW. Weee! That's happening in April 26, 2014, 12nn to 7am at the Central District Football Field, Mandalagan, Bacolod City. I really wish I could go home for this!!! This is going to be the first time for me to attend a music fest if ever! Soo egzoited! Feel the vibe, catch the hype! Sneak’s right HERE!
